A Hollywood film crew will be in Portland on Monday to shoot scenes for a new movie called “The Witch Files.”

Elizabeth Baldacci, a spokeswoman for the film, said Sunday night the film crew will begin setting up around 2:30 p.m. at the Miss Portland Diner on Marginal Way. Filming will last through the evening, ending around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

A lunch scene will be filmed at 8 p.m. so “day lights” will be ablaze above the Miss Portland Diner, Baldacci said. Filming in Portland was originally set to start on May 3.

More than 100 people auditioned to be in the film on April 24 at the University of Southern Maine. Shooting began Saturday and Sunday at Morse High School in Bath and will continue through May 23.

“The Witch Files” is described as a “dark supernatural high school comedy set in a small town in Maine, which some have compared to ‘The Breakfast Club’ with magic. Five girls from different cliques cast a spell to get out of detention, but they’re bonded into a powerful coven and come under the influence of an ancient and malicious witch.”

Filmmaker Kyle Rankin, a York native, will direct “The Witch Files.” Rankin directed another movie in Maine in 2014. The zombie film was called “Night of the Living Deb.” Scott Taylor of Brunswick will produce “The Witch Files.”

The Witch Files stars Holly Taylor of the FX show “The Americans”; Paget Brewster, an actress from the CBS-TV show “Criminal Minds”; and Britt Flatmo from the movie “Super 8.”

Shooting for the movie will also take place in Brunswick.
