This Handmade American Furniture Maker is Racking Up Awards

Thos. Moser wins three Architizer A+ Awards, which represent the best of architecture worldwide...

Thos. Moser, Handmade American Furniture, announced that its Hartford Collection, designed by Adam Rogers of Cumberland, Maine, and its Portland Chair, designed by Ben Klebba of Portland, Oregon, have both received Architizer A+ Awards. The Hartford Collection was the Jury Winner in the Products Categories | Furniture for Furniture – Residential while the Portland Chair won both the Jury and Popular Choice Awards in the Products Categories | Furniture for Seating – Residential.

With entries from more than 100 countries, the Architizer A+ Awards represent the best of architecture worldwide. The Architizer A+ Jury Winners are selected by an industry-based jury comprised of equal parts architects, designers, cultural thought leaders, and developers. The Popular Choice Winners are chosen by the online voting public after a three-week campaign.

The Hartford Collection, which consists of a Sofa, Lounge Chair, Media Case, Coffee Table and Side Table, embodies all things Thos. Moser: a dedication to functionally driven objects, formal simplicity, and the characteristic elimination of ornament, use and celebration of traditional materials and woodworking techniques, all with an emphasis on craftsmanship. The collection’s name, Hartford, comes from the town of the little-known Hartford, Maine and is the hometown of Rogers’ partner in design and prototyping, Warren Shaw.

“With Hartford, my intention was to continue evolving the Moser aesthetic while remaining faithful to the ideals that Tom Moser himself established in the beginning,” says Rogers, Thos. Moser’s Director of Design.

The Portland Chair is the result of a collaboration with designer Ben Klebba, who founded and operates Phloem Studio in Portland, Oregon, and is named after both the Portland that Klebba calls home and the Portland that is the metropolitan center of Maine. This chair represents Thos. Moser’s commitment to find and partner with like-minded makers to further explore, through a contemporary lens, what is possible within the parameters of the brand and modern craft itself.
