The Lowdown on (Relatively) Low-Cost Midtown Apartments

New, 11 comments

Midtown and affordability may not go hand-in-hand, but there are still a few options for those with tight budgets

Rents in Atlanta are out of control, and Midtown is home to some of the city's priciest apartments, with median rents reaching $1,550 by the end of last year.

Good news: For those who want to live amid the action, but who don't have thousands to spend a month on housing, there are (a few) options!

While these buildings may not have the downright absurd amenities of many expensive new buildings, they tout an affordability factor that makes their back-to-the-basics approach pretty damn palatable.

100 Midtown

Imagine living in Midtown for $200 a month. While it may seem far fetched, a converted office building on 10th Street offers just such a bargain. The catch? Residents must be a student at one of the surrounding universities.

Both two-bedroom units and four-bedroom units start at under $900 a month, meaning savvy students who don't mind sharing a bathroom with a roommate can snag a pad in Midtown for under $225 a month!

Sure, not all of the bedrooms have windows, and the washing machine is located under the breakfast bar, but there's even a gym, a movie room, and Ping-Pong tables.

Solace on Peachtree

Who said high-rise living had to come with high-rise prices? Solace on Peachtree, a midcentury tower just north of the Fox Theater, offers possibly the lowest rents of any high-rise in the Midtown. According to the building's website, a 424-square-foot studio scan be had for under $800 a month.

When the amenities list includes air conditioning and mini blinds, you know these units are basic. And while the exterior of the building is pretty midcentury blah, the interiors have recently been updated. For those who value their own space, there's really no building to be had for cheaper in the heart of the city.

Crescent Place Apartments

For those who want to be in the social heart of it all, there is an option. While from the outside, Crescent Place Apartments aren't much to look at, it's all about location, location, location!

Snuggled between Peachtree and West Peachtree streets, Crescent Avenue is four blocks of jam-packed urbanity. With restaurants, night clubs, and bars just steps away, you just cannot beat the location in the heart of Midtown.

Two-bedroom, two-bathroom units start at $1250 per month, while one-bedroom units can be had for $910.
