Every Time Donald and Melania Trump Went to The Met Gala

By Celebrity News Wire on April 29, 2016

The Met Gala is the fashion world’s version of prom. It’s all about which celeb shows up with which high fashion designer in tow. But most importantly, it’s about who will take home the crown for wearing the most drop dead gorgeous look of the night. So, as you can imagine, the event’s red carpet is full of the crème de la crème of Hollywood, as well as another pop culture reality TV icon you may not have expected to make an appearance—Donald Trump. The presidential hopeful and his wife have been attending the Gala since 2004, putting on their finest black tie apparel and hobnobbing with the rich and famous. We have a sneaking suspicion the bragging rights that come along with being able to throw down a cool $50K every year on tickets for the evening doesn’t hurt either.

Melania is a former model, so wearing dresses and being photographed in them isn’t just a pastime, it’s a profession. For the first few years the couple attended, from 2004 to 2006, the aspiring POTUS and FLOTUS kept things subtle in monochromatic looks. Interestingly, Mrs. Trump favored strapless sweetheart necklines all three years, while The Donald kept things classic in a traditional tuxedo.

From 2007 to 2010, the pair began to slowly branch out, well, Melania did at least, opting for bolder more elaborate statement-making fashions and experimenting with different hairstyles. In 2008, Trump even broke with his usual wax sculpture-esque pose to throw up some deuces.

In recent years, Melania has gone for looks that are slightly more avant grade, channeling Beyoncé’s love of a sheer illusion gown in 2011 to celebrate Alexander Mcqueen, and opting for a modern yet fun look in this white peaked shoulder mini and unicorn glitter heels for the Schiaparelli and Prada exhibit the following year (although this dress would have been right at home on the Punk Met Gala red carpet in 2013).

But given the current media frenzy surrounding the Trump family combined with the Vogue Editor-in-Cheif’s personal politics, at this point we have a feeling Anna Wintour might be regretting not making this event guest list only.
