GREEN-fingered students at Malton School are appealing for donations of unwanted gardening tools, plants or bulbs.

The students are planning to develop two of the existing gardens at the school to grow their own herbs, plants and vegetables.

Garden development is one of the new weekly extra curriculum lessons that takes place on Thursdays, and students who opted for this activity will spend an hour a week tending the outdoor space.

Teacher Helen Wilson, who is running the session, said: “The students are all very keen to get working on the school gardens. We would be very grateful for any unwanted gardening tools, particularly smaller tools like secateurs, trowels and gloves.

“Given the time of year, we would also be very appreciative of any herbs and bulbs that we could plant over autumn and winter.”

If anyone has any gardening tools, bulbs or herbs that they would like to donate, phone Malton School on 01653 692828.
