A Fantastic Open House This past November we held an Open House to celebrate our new office location. We had a great turnout and it was encouraging to see so many people attend that evening. We had the pleasure of meeting many new faces as well as catching up with current clients and old friends. Everyone was really pleased with the wonderful catering from our friends at Royal Ice Cream Co, Andrée’s Waffalloons and Moe’s of Glastonbury—a special thanks to them! CBS was built on this kind of support and we would like to thank all who joined us that evening.

End of Year Bookkeeping Checklist Check out the following items before the year’s end to make sure you’re in good standing for 2012. If you need help or are feeling overwhelmed, then give us a call; we can help! Reconcile Your Bank Accounts Catch Up On Invoices Record Transactions – Don’t forget about the credit card and cash purchases. Search your pockets for receipts! Categorize Expenses – Make sure all of your income and expenses have been properly categorized. Don’t Forget Mileage – Have you recorded all the time spent in the car? Remember, your daily commute doesn’t count. Your Estimated Taxes – To avoid penalties when taxes are due, be sure you’ve paid enough in estimated taxes for the year. Check your Income Statement – Compared to prior year. Don’t forget to reverse stale cheques Record any year end accrual entries – and depreciation! Check Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable for accuracy Bad debt write offs, if any (and hopefully there aren’t!) Prepare A Budget for Next Year – One quick way is to take your profit and loss statement from the year that is ending and export it to a spreadsheet, then compare it to what you would like to increase/decrease for the upcoming year.

Having the correct software as well as having it properly calibrated plays an integral role in how your business operates.
First, we would like to welcome Debbie Locke as our new Office Manager.

Daniela Nollez recently joined us as our Human Resources Specialist. Lastly, Karen Cunningham was hired as an Accounting Associate to our expanding Accounting department. We’re looking forward to another year of growth and development in 2012!
