The Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) is one of Georgia's four health agencies serving the state's growing population of over 10 million people. DCH serves as the lead agency for Medicaid, oversees the State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP) and Healthcare Facility Regulation, impacting one in four Georgians.

 

Through effective planning, purchasing and oversight, DCH provides access to affordable, quality health care to millions of Georgians, including some of the state's most vulnerable and under-served populations. Six enterprise offices support the work of the agency’s three program divisions. DCH employees are based in Atlanta, Cordele and across the state. 

 

The Department of Community Health is searching for a qualified Data Analytics Decision Support Manager for its Medical Assistance Plans (Medicaid) Division.  The Medicaid Division is dedicated to advancing the health, wellness and independence of those they serve by providing access to quality care and resources statewide.  This is a hybrid position that requires in-office and remote work with the approval of the supervisor.  The days and frequency in the office can change at any time during employment based on the business needs of the organization.

 



 

Job Responsibilities

Directs a diverse range of support, operational, and programmatic activities for a department, agency or facility. Recommends and implements policies and procedures. Directs subordinate managers and staff.  The Analytics and Decision Support Manager is responsible for analyzing data, quality metrics, and outcome reports and identifies areas for improvement.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Executes research-based approach to analyze data plus 200+ quality metric and outcome reports from CMOs annually.
  • Identifies industry trends and automation recommendations.
  • Checks report correctness and timeliness from internal/external stakeholders.
  • Analyzes data to identify trends, data research studies, and areas for quality improvement.
  • Manages Medicaid cross functional committees.
  • Partners with others to enhance reporting and quality of care outcomes.
  • Partners with IT to address quality metrics and outcome data management and reporting needs.
  • Performs data analysis and report generation to support planning, healthcare system initiatives, and overall quality of care monitoring.
  • Analyzes data and provides recommendations to enhance health outcomes for members.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Four years of experience managing professional level staff OR Eight years of related professional experience AND Four years managing at the level equivalent to area of assignment OR Four years of experience required at the lower level Mgr 2, Business Ops (GSM011) or position equivalent. Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Strong background in Healthcare, Public Administration, or other health-related fields.
  • Strong knowledge, experience, and understanding of data analysis.
  • Significant experience in Healthcare analytics.
  • Knowledge of quality metrics and outcome reporting.  
  • Knowledge and understanding of federal, state and CMS policies and regulations.
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience with health outcomes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with CMOs sister agencies, state legislators, and other DCH divisions.
