Hearing in Bhatta rape case next Thursday
NOIDA: The final hearing in the alleged gang rape in Bhatta-Parsaul will be conducted on next Thursday in the Gautam Budh Nagar district court. Ved Prakash Sharma, counsel for the victim Babita Rani (name changed), said about a month back a petition was filed on her behalf saying that after the bloody clash on May 7, the police and PAC personnel went berserk and gang-raped her.“So far, five hearings have been conducted and the final hearing will be carried out on Thursday.
However, it is not clear whether the court would pass a judgment or reserve it,” Sharma said. Another rape case has also been registered. Almost six months after the Bhatta violence, the UP police on October 24 had registered an FIR against 16 PAC personnel at the Dankaur police station in Greater Noida. The case was registered following Allahabad High Court rejecting the plea of the state government to quash the lower court’s decision and ordered that an FIR should be filed against the accused cops. The court had also come down heavily on the Dankaur SHO for challenging a magistrate’s order.
Two petitions had been filed in this connection and the court had clubbed both of them, disposing them with a single order.Sharma, who is also handling the other case, said even after a case has been registered, so far not a single accused has been arrested. “If no accFinal used is arrested soon, then we will move the court against inaction of the police,” Sharma added.
