NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – A 14-year-old girl reported missing Thursday, after an unknown man checked her out of Langston Hughes Charter school, has been found. The school released this report Friday morning:

“On Thursday, June 2, a student at Langston Hughes Academy was checked out of school by someone the student knew but who was not on the school’s authorized sign-out list. Upon learning this, we immediately contacted the student’s parents and notified the authorities. The student has since been found and reunited with her family.
We deeply regret that this occurred and are conducting an internal review of the incident. We have tightened our school check-out procedures and will take appropriate actions with staff involved based on a full review of the facts. Student safety remains our number one priority,” said Chief Development Officer of First Line Schools Claudia Baker.
