Once upon a time yesterday, we thought Michelin tri-star chef Laurent Gras might be opening a restaurant in the West Village. We were wrong. Yes, the West Village did confirm with us yesterday that Laurent Gras had talked to them about opening a restaurant, but today the West Village tells us that he in fact did not do so. (Gras himself tells Eater of his Dallas plans: "I wasn't aware until I read it," alas.) Nor did the West Village talk to another famous Chef Laurent: Tourondel, of BLT Steak fame. The Uptown mixed-use development did confirm that they talked to some chef named Laurent, and we don't know who it is and apparently neither do they. [-EDFW-]
