TKB Says:

Now in its second year of production, the HQ Ignition is a 3-strut low to medium aspect C-shaped canopy with swept back wingtips that excels as an all around freeride kite. This year the Ignition inflation valve was upgraded to a large flow Boston valve that requires the larger inflation nozzle and makes pumping up this kite quick and easy. With two steering settings on the wingtip for turning speed, and two settings on the single pulley front bridle to adjust the amount of depower, the Ignition has simple tuning options and standard construction details like basic trailing edge reinforcements and minimal screening which makes this kite feel fairly light in the air. The HQ got decent marks for relaunch with its swept back wingtips and testers found the Ignition’s light to medium bar pressure very comfortable and average turning speed to make for a predictable all around fun ride. The Ignition has a pivot style turning arc and while the sheeting and power delivery is not as crisp as some of the more aggressive kites in the test, overall the HQ would be a great option for beginner and intermediate kiters looking for a user-friendly cruiser with decent boost and good hangtime for all around freeriding bliss.

TKB-FREERIDE-2017-HQ-BAR-2778This year HQ’s One-Bar got a major redesign with some serious feature upgrades from the previous version. The One-Bar is a fixed length 49 or 55cm bar with 24m dyneema lines connected to a spectra trimline with adjustable length throw, durable PU center throw line with a sliding stopper, above the bar Clam cleat, center routed single center-line safety depower routed through the bar and an above the bar swivel. HQ’s new quick release is much more straightforward this year with a  push away system that is easy to put back together and features a quick release shield but no integrated swivel. New this year as well, the bar features soft bar ends, clean integrated floats, retractable bungees for easy put away and center lines that end in a knot. Testers gave the One-Bar good marks for its rich features, comfortable grip with finger bumps and easily identified color coded flying lines.
