Chances are, your parents have had their fill of deep dish pizza and Mag Mile strolls. Next time they come to town, treat them to something a bit more exciting. We rounded up parental-approved plans that will have your elders raving about their time in Chicago. And hey, we're willing to bet you might just have a little fun, too.

Two words: furniture shopping: If we know one thing to be true it's that parents love furniture shopping. (It's just something that happens when you get older.) Hit up Chicago's very best furniture stores to please the interior designer in every parent.

Sip a Chicago-themed cocktail: From a cocktail garnished with a Chicago flag to a Bloody Mary topped with spaghetti and meatballs, these Chicago-themed cocktails are sure to impress mom and dad.

Walk the 606: For parents who crave physical activity when they're in town, the 606 is an obvious choice. Connecting Logan Square, Humboldt Park, Wicker Park and Bucktown, there's plenty to do off the path as well.

Explore a neighborhood: Get your walking shoes on, hit the El and cruise any one of Chicago's many neighborhoods. They'll never tell you this, but your parents are probably tired to visiting the same old brunch spots and shops in your ’hood.

See a musical: Whether you're splurging on tickets to Hamilton (good luck) or checking out a small storefront production, it's a well-known fact that parents go nuts for musical theater

Dine alfresco: They get to check out Chicago's one-of-a-kind outdoor dining scene, you get to enjoy a negroni slushy. Everyone wins.

Hop on a boat: Booking a boat tour requires minimal effort on your part, but the reward is huge. Whether you want to wow the 'rents with unique views of the city's best architecture or check out fireworks after the sun goes down, you can't go wrong when you step foot on a boat.

Eat your way through a food hall: When mom wants tacos and dad wants pizza, check out one of Chicago's diverse food halls for plenty of options.

When all else fails, brunch: Even the pickiest parents can't say no to waffles and Bloody Marys. Chicago's best brunch spots are the perfect solution for those moments your parents show up in Chicago unannounced.
