Pandora, Ticketfly Introduce Concert Recommendations

Pandora today introduces personalized concert recommendations for Ticketfly venues based on users' listening habits.

Pandora’s purchase of Ticketfly for $450 million last year was seen as a groundbreaking step for the internet radio service as it looked to cater more directly to fans who had been using its platform for years. Now, the first significant integration between the two platforms has begun, as Pandora today introduces personalized concert recommendations for Ticketfly venues based on users’ listening habits.

Using mobile push notifications, email alerts and the personalized feed in the Pandora app, users will be able to find, save and purchase tickets to shows in their local area without actively seeking them out. Though purchases can’t be made directly through the app, it eliminates a few steps in the process and will bring fans directly to the event purchase page.

“Pandora is redefining the music experience, and that includes live events,” said Tim Westergren, founder and newly-re-installed CEO of Pandora, in a statement. “There’s nothing like the magic of a live show, and there’s nothing worse than missing your favorite band because you didn’t know they were in town. Pandora and Ticketfly are solving that with personalized and effortless access to live, local events.”

It’s the latest move by Pandora to offer its 80-million-odd monthly active users more useful services, following its recent deal with Uber and venture into podcasting. The show recommendations feature should go into effect today.
