Reports are coming in from Italy that 2006 MotoGP world champion and current Red Bull Honda World Superbike rider Nicky Hayden has been seriously injured while cycling near the Misano circuit in Italy.

The American, a keen cyclist, was reportedly out with a group of friends when the crash happened. He received medical treatment at the scene after the collision, which saw him impact the windscreen of a Peugeot car.

He’s reported to have been taken to a local hospital in Rimini after the crash with serious head and chest injuries, but that remains conjuncture until official word is released by his team or the hospital.
