    IN HONOR OF JERRY LEWIS HOLLYWOODS TOP COMICS TO GATHER AT LAUGH FACTORY TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE ANNUAL JERRY LEWIS AWARD
    (HOLLYWOOD, CA September 2, 2011) A group of Hollywoods top comics who last month drew national attention in an effort to get Jerry Lewis reinstated as emcee of the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon that he hosted for nearly 50 years has announced an annual award in Lewis name to be given to the individual who makes the greatest contribution to finding a cure for the disease. The Laugh Factory will host the comics first fundraising event open to the public in honor of Lewis this Labor Day, September 5, 2011, and will continue the event yearly until a cure for muscular dystrophy is found. The show, which will also be streamed live at LaughFactory.com, will commence at 7:00pm. Donations can be made on the website. "We will raise money in honor of Jerry Lewis work, keep it in a trust, and give it to the individual who makes the most advances in finding a cure for muscular dystrophy, said Laugh Factory owner Jamie Masada who is a frequent supporter of causes dear to comics. Right after the announcement of Lewis' curt release from his duties, a number of comics led by Kevin Nealon, Paul Rodriguez, Tom Dreesen, Norm Crosby, Larry Miller, and Mark Schiff appeared on stage at a Laugh Factory news conference in an attempt to make the MDA reconsider its shocking statement about Jerry Lewis. Discouraged that the Fund's response was to ignore them, the Laugh Factory comics discussed ways of helping "Jerry's kids" rather then going through people who charge money to raise money, and then dismiss, unceremoniously, those who do the heavy lifting. "All the comics said that it had to be in Jerry Lewis' honor," Masada said. We will work with international muscular dystrophy programs to help all those who suffer from muscular dystrophy. # # #
