WASHINGTON That was the bounce that was.
So found an ABC News tracking poll yesterday, which put Bob Dole trailing President Clinton by 12 points up from just 4 points last Thursday and Sunday when the impact of the GOP convention was fresh.
The tally: Clinton 49%, Dole 37%, Ross Perot 10%.
White House spokesman Mike McCurry said the Clinton camp also believed his lead probably was double digits again. “I think that the rubber band stretched and it snapped back over the weekend,” he said.
Dole spokeswoman Christina Martin was somewhat doubtful, but said “we expect our convention bounce to subside.

” She said Dole’s surge showed Clinton’s support is “soft and vulnerable.
