There's a petition to save 11,000 BBC Food recipes from being archived

We may spend a lot of cash on takeaways and eating out, but it seems the art of the home-cooked meal is not totally lost. This morning the BBC announced that it was planning to close its food website, BBC Food, as part of cost-cutting plans to save £15 million – and people are seriously unhappy about it. In fact, someone's launched a Change.org petition calling on the BBC to change their minds, and it's already been signed by more than 65,000 people.

If the plans go ahead, the BBC Food website won't be totally deleted, but it'll be pretty damn impossible to find your favourite recipes. The links for individual recipes will remain live but they won't be linked to from any part of the BBC website. So if you're particularly attached to some of the Beeb's recipes then start bookmarking them now, and sign the petition here.

In other food news, a pop-up matcha café is coming to London.

And someone's opened a salad bar in an old phone box in Holborn.
