A Health Impact Assessment (HIA) is an evidence-based tool that helps decision-makers rapidly identify the potential positive and negative health effects of policies, programs and projects in order to maximize health benefits and mitigate health risks.

  • Introduction to HIA tool.
  • Approaches and experiences in using HIA.
  • Using HIA to evaluate transportation plans and investments, including how HIA was used to inform transit plans for Wichita.

11:45 a.m.–1 p.m.

Technical Workshop on Conducting an HIA to inform decisions about policies, plans and projects

Cost: The morning training is provided free of charge. Lunch and the afternoon technical workshop, including a work book is $20. Space for each session is limited to 75 participants.

The Kansas Health Institute (KHI) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan health policy and research organization focused on issues that impact the health of Kansans. KHI has been recognized for its expertise in health impact assessment work, through conducting assessments and by training community officials on their purpose and use.
