Alberta Parks allows campers to book sites on mobile phones

Campers can now book sites in Alberta’s provincial parks on their mobile phones.

On Monday, officials with Alberta Parks announced that Reserve.AlbertaParks.ca can now be used on the go.

“It’s not an app,” said Tim Chamberlin, a spokesman for Alberta Environment and Parks. “It’s a way on your mobile device to activate the system.”

He said it will make it easier to change a campsite booking, extend a stay or reserve a camping trip.

The website has also undergone a revamp, including an updated vacancy calendar.

So far, there have been 55,000 reservations made in Alberta Parks — six per cent higher than the same time last year.

The province reminds campers that there are fire bans and restrictions in place for parts of the province.
