"In the beginning, RAB gained huge popularity by suppressing JMB."
Since its inception on March 26, 2004, it has successfully suppressed crime in many cases.
About a month later, in April 2004, Siddiqul Islam alias Bangla Bhai of Bogra and his followers started killing people in Rajshahi and Naogaon areas.
At the beginning, Bangla Bhai and his followers were active, but later, when their activities started increasing at a huge rate, RAB became active. This is why Bangla Bhai and his followers were forced to leave Rajshahi region and go into hiding.
So the situation in the country is a little calmer. But a grenade attack on an Awami League rally on 21 August 2004 worsened the situation in the country and other law enforcement agencies became active.
For this reason, all the misguided people who hurled grenades at the Awami League meeting, went into hiding. Therefore, the situation in the country was quite good till the beginning of August 2005.
But to the shock of the people of the country, on 17 August 2005, the followers of Shaikh Abdur Rahman and Bangla Bhai carried out a series of bombings in 63 of the 64 districts of Bangladesh. As a result, the condition of the country deteriorated a lot and Bangladesh became known abroad as a failed state and militant state.
So RAB is more active. But the Bangla Bhai and the followers of Shaikh Abdur Rahman did not go into hiding like in 2004 and killed people by bombing different places. People were killed in bomb blasts in various places including Netrokona, Jhalokati and Gazipur.
As a result, RAB and other law enforcement agencies became very active. However, the RAB was the foremost among all the law enforcement agencies. So they succeeded in arresting Bangla Bhai and Shaikh Abdur Rahman through their own activities.
Through this, Rapid Action Battalion gained wide popularity among the people of Bangladesh. Especially among the people who do not commit any crime and live a normal life, it gains wide popularity among the people.
From this it is understood that just as the king of Ayodhya*1), Sri Ramachandra, ascended to the throne of the deity*2) by subduing the king of Lanka, Ravana*3), so the RAB gained immense popularity by subduing the JMB.
In other words, it can be said that light is so valuable because it is dark. Light is so important to people because it is dark. That is to say, just as light has become a necessity among the people by dispelling darkness, so too at the beginning of that time the Rapid Action Battalion gained a popularity among the people.
*Special Note *1): - Shri Ramchandra was the Crown Prince of Ayodhya. But because of his stepmother, his father sent him into exile. While in exile, he killed King Ravana of Lanka. After returning from exile, he became the king of Ayodhya.
*Special Note *2): - Originally Shri Ramchandra is considered as an incarnation of Vishnu in Hindu scriptures. But Sri Ramachandra is called a deity among the conventional meditative ideas and people.
*Special note *3):- The main theme of Ramayana is the killing of Ravana by Sri Ramachandra. If this had not been mentioned in the Ramayana, Sri Ramachandra would never have been regarded as an incarnation of Vishnu. "শুরুর দিকে জেএমবিকে দমন করে র্যাব ব্যাপক জনপ্রিয়তা অর্জন করেছিলো।"
2004 সালের 26 শে মার্চ প্রতিষ্ঠিত হওয়ার পর অনেক ক্ষেত্রেই তাদের সফলতার সঙ্গে অপরাধ দমন করেছিলো।
এর প্রায় একমাস পরেই 2004 সালের এপ্রিল মাসে বগুড়ার সিদ্দিকুল ইসলাম ওরফে বাংলা ভাই এবং ওর অনুসারীরা রাজশাহী এবং নওগাঁ অঞ্চলে মানুষ হত্যা শুরু করে।
তখন শুরুর দিকে বাংলা ভাই এবং ওর অনুসারীরা সক্রিয় হলেও পরবর্তীতে যখন তাদের অপতৎপরতা ব্যাপক হারে বাড়তে থাকে, তখন র্যাব সক্রিয় হয়। এই কারণেই বাংলা ভাই এবং ওর অনুসারীরা রাজশাহী অঞ্চল ত্যাগ করতে বাধ্য হয় এবং আত্মগোপন করে।
তাই দেশের পরিস্থিতি একটু প্রশমিত হয়। কিন্তু 2004 সালের 21 আগস্ট আওয়ামী লীগের সমাবেশে গ্রেনেড হামলা হওয়ার কারণে দেশের পরিস্থিতির আরও অবনতি ঘটে এবং অন্যান্য আইনশৃঙ্খলা বাহিনী সক্রিয় হয়।
এই কারণে যে সকল বিপথগামীরা আওয়ামী লীগের সভায় গ্রেনেড হামলা করেছিলো, ওরা আত্মগোপনে চলে যায়। তাই 2005 সালের আগস্ট মাসের শুরুর দিক পর্যন্ত দেশের অবস্থা মোটামুটি ভালোই ছিলো।
কিন্তু দেশের মানুষকে শকড করে 2005 সালের 17 আগস্ট শায়খ আব্দুর রহমান এবং বাংলা ভাইয়ের অনুসারীরা বাংলাদেশের 64 জেলার মধ্যে 63 তার জেলাতে সিরিজ বোমা হামলা চালায়। এর ফলে দেশের অবস্থার অনেক অবনতি হয় এবং বহির্বিশ্বে বাংলাদেশ একটি ব্যর্থরাষ্ট্র এবং জঙ্গিরাষ্ট্র হিসেবে পরিচিতি পায়।
তাই র্যাব আরো সক্রিয় হয়। কিন্তু বাংলা ভাই এবং শায়খ আব্দুর রহমানের অনুসারীরা 2004 সালের মতো আত্মগোপনে না গিয়ে বিভিন্ন স্থানে বোমা হামলার মাধ্যমে মানুষ হত্যা করে। নেত্রকোনা, ঝালকাঠি এবং গাজীপুরসহ বিভিন্ন স্থানে বোমা হামলার মাধ্যমে মানুষ খুন করে।
এর ফলে র্যাব এবং অন্যান্য আইনশৃঙ্খলা বাহিনী ব্যাপকভাবে সক্রিয় হয়েছিলো। তবে সকল আইনশৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী বাহিনীর মধ্যে র্যাব ছিলো সবচেয়ে থেকে এগিয়ে। তাই নিজেদের তৎপরতার মাধ্যমে বাংলা ভাই এবং শায়খ আবদুর রহমানকে গ্রেফতার করতে সফল হয়।
এর মাধ্যমে র্যাপিড একশন ব্যাটালিয়ন বাংলাদেশের জনসাধারণের মধ্যে ব্যাপক জনপ্রিয়তা অর্জন করে। বিশেষ করে যে সকল জনসাধারণ কোন ধরনের অপরাধ করে না এবং সাধারনভাবে জীবন যাপন করেন, সেই সকল জনসাধারণের মধ্যে ব্যাপক জনপ্রিয়তা অর্জন করে।
এ থেকে এটাই বুঝা যায় যে, যেভাবে লঙ্কার রাজা রাবণকে হত্যা করে অযোধ্যার রাজা*১) শ্রীরামচন্দ্র দেবতার*২) আসনে সমাসীন হয়েছিলেন*৩), তেমনি জেএমবিকে দমন করে র্যাব ব্যাপক জনপ্রিয়তা অর্জন করেছিলো।
অর্থাৎ এভাবেও বললে বলা যায় যে, অন্ধকার থাকার কারণে আলোর এত মূল্য। অন্ধকার আছে বলেই আলো মানুষের কাছে এতো প্রয়োজনীয়। অর্থাৎ অন্ধকারকে দূরীভূত করে আলো যেভাবে মানুষের মধ্যে প্রয়োজনীয় বিষয়ে পরিণত হয়, তেমনি সেই সময়ে শুরুর দিকে র্যাপিড একশন ব্যাটালিয়ন মানুষের মধ্যে একটা জনপ্রিয়তা অর্জন করেছিলো।
*বিশেষ দ্রষ্টব্য ১):- শ্রী রামচন্দ্র ছিলেন অযোধ্যার ক্রাউন প্রিন্স। কিন্তু তিনির সৎ মায়ের কারণে তিনির বাবা তিনিকে বনবাসে প্রেরণ করেছিলেন। বনবাসে থাকা অবস্থায় লঙ্কার রাজা রাবণকে তিনি বধ করেছিলেন। এরপর বনবাস থেকে ফিরে এসে তিনি অযোধ্যার রাজা হয়েছিলেন।
*বিশেষ দ্রষ্টব্য ২) :- মূলত শ্রী রামচন্দ্র কে বিষ্ণুদেবের অবতার হিসেবে হিন্দু ধর্ম শাস্ত্রে বিবেচনা করা হয়। কিন্তু প্রচলিত ধ্যান-ধারনা এবং জনসাধারণের মধ্যে শ্রী রামচন্দ্রকে দেবতা বলা হয়।
*বিশেষ দ্রষ্টব্য ৩) :- রামায়ণের মূল বিষয়বস্তুই হচ্ছে শ্রীরামচন্দ্র কর্তৃক রাবণকে হত্যা করা। যদি রামায়ণে এই বিষয় উল্লিখিত না থাকত, তাহলে কখনোই শ্রীরামচন্দ্রকে বিষ্ণুদেবের অবতার হিসেবে মান্য করা হতো না। তাই রাবনকে হত্যা করেই শ্রীরামচন্দ্র দেবতার আসনে বসেছেন।©️All Right Reserved by Junayed Ashrafur Rahman
