Dark Souls 3 gets first DLC pack this fall (update)

Reap those season pass rewards

Dark Souls 3’s first set of downloadable content, "Ashes of Ariandel," will launch on Oct. 25, Bandai Namco announced. As promised by the game’s season pass details, the pack will introduce new weapons, spells and further content.

The expansion, set in the tundra of Ariandel, will cost $14.99 and be available for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. A season pass containing both the first pack and a second DLC set, due early next year, is offered for $24.99.

Japanese gaming blog Hachima reports that Famitsu magazine, officially on stands later this week, includes pictures of some of the elemental powers included in "Ashes of Ariandel." These include a fiery sword, ice powers and a light-filled boomerang. Also shown is an exclusive PvP map called Immortal Competition, although further details about what that entails are scant.

Update: The trailer and social media post announcing the DLC has been taken down from the North American PlayStation account. We'll update again when they've been re-uploaded.

Update #2: Bandai Namco has again confirmed that "Ashes of Ariandel" is on its way in October. A trailer and further details have been added to the post above. Check out the gallery below for a deeper look.
