If you didn’t get the tweet, Social Media Day is Thursday, though in Silicon Valley it’s probably also Friday, Saturday and every other day ending in “y.”

The online celebration, started last year by Mashable.com, will be marked in San Jose with a Mashable Meetup at the Moorpark Hotel and a 4 p.m. panel discussion at the Irish Innovation Center at San Pedro Square.

The panelists are venture capitalist Richard Moran, Focal Labs founder Fergus Hurley and San Francisco author Charles Orlando, whose Facebook page “The Problem with Women is Men” has a half-million fans.

So update your Facebook status, check your Twitter and become the mayor of everywhere on Foursquare.

BACK TO SCHOOL: Bellarmine College Prep grads can stop being envious of current students who get to use the new theater at the school’s new Sobrato Center for Humanities and the Arts. They’ll get their chance thanks to a new initiative called the Bellarmine Alumni Theatre, which will raise money for the school’s financial aid program.

The first production will be “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” running July 14-16. The cast will range from 2011 alums all the way to Steve Repetti, who graduated when Lyndon Johnson was president. Get tickets at www.bcp.org.

ARTISTIC HONORS: San Jose Taiko founders Roy and PJ Hirabayashi have received the National Endowment for the Arts’ Heritage Fellowship, the country’s highest honor in the folk and traditional arts. They’ll be stepping down from their roles as executive and artistic director on Thursday.

Incoming executive director Wisa Uemura said, “They have inspired generations of taiko players and have paved the way for multicultural arts throughout the region and nation.”

The city of San Jose was recognized this month for having the Public Art Program of the Year at the annual conference of Americans for the Arts. Special recognition was given to the art at the renovated Mineta San Jose International Airport, but serious kudos must be given to Public Art Director Barbara Goldstein, a nationally recognized leader in the field.

And CreaTV and the Mexican Heritage Corporation were recently honored for a video about Dan Guerrero’s musical on the Mexican Revolution, which had its debut at last year’s San Jose Mariachi Festival. The video won a Hometown Award for Best Cultural Perspectives Video from the National Alliance for Community Media.
