I desperately need more kindness and compassion in my life. I need to judge less and love more. That is the way of Jesus. That is what Jesus calls me to do. I know I want others to be kind to me. I need to be kind and compassionate no matter what.

Kindness is the quality of compassion and generosity, characteristic of God’s dealings towards the weak and poor, and demanded of believers. The kindness is also shown in the words and deeds of Jesus the Messiah.

“Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd.” ~Jesus | Matthew 9:36 (NASB)

God showed His infinite kindness to me. God sent His Son Jesus to die for me. Surely I can, by the power of His Holy Spirit be kind.

But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit. Titus 3:4–5 (NASB)

Jesus shows kindness in so many ways. For the sick.

When He went ashore, He saw a large crowd, and felt compassion for them and healed their sick. Matthew 14:14 (NASB)

Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes; and immediately they regained their sight and followed Him. Matthew 20:34 (NASB)

For the hungry.

I feel compassion for the people because they have remained with Me now three days and have nothing to eat. “If I send them away hungry to their homes, they will faint on the way; and some of them have come from a great distance.” Mark 8:2–3 (NASB)

For those grieving for the dead.

When the Lord saw her, He felt compassion for her, and said to her, “Do not weep.” Luke 7:13 (NASB)

Let’s take a quick music interlude.

Jesus challenges me. How much do I give. Do I think about how to do that more?

“In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more happy (aka blessed) to give than to receive.’ ” Acts 20:35 (NASB)

Jesus knows about my weakness and sympathizes with me. Now that is some good news. Whew!

For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Hebrews 4:15 (NASB)

And so, we close with this. This is my challenge. This is my prayer!

Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in the Messiah also has forgiven you. | Ephesians 4:32 (NASB)
