Windhand Conjure "Old Evil" on Doomy New Song From Forthcoming Split

Richmond sludge crew teams with Satan's Satyrs for new Relapse release

Windhand's approach to doom metal is as seductive as it is crushing. Singer Dorthia Cottrell's angst-ridden delivery suits the band's fuzzy wall of sound in way that is distinctly them — slinky, sexy, emotional, hard but also very vulnerable. It's a unique way of reimagining a genre that tips a cap to the band's predecessors while also presenting a new twist to an old formula.

While we wait for the Richmond crew to return to the table with a new long-player, Windhand have joined forces with fellow Virginians Satan's Satyrs for a split 12-inch that will be released February 16th. The lead single is "Old Evil," another in a long line of breathy doom burners from the band that perfectly slots in with its work on 2015's Grief's Eternal Flower and beyond. Stream the song — and watch its trippy music video — above for the first time; you can pre-order the split via Relapse Records.
