A Putney rower has turned Facebook detective in a bid to find the man who attacked him in a nightclub.

Daniel Pring is hoping users of the social networking site will be able to help trace the suspect.

The IT consultant, from Wandsworth Town, was left with a fractured eye socket when the man attacked him on the dancefloor of the Clapham Grand nightclub, St Johns Hill, Battersea.

Mr Pring, who is 31 and a member of London Rowing Club, said the attack, which happened about 1.45am on Saturday, January 11, was totally unprovoked.

He said: “I was on the dancefloor with two friends and then one man tried to head butt my friend. Then someone hit me, I didn’t see it coming at all. I’m still pretty shaken up about it.”

After falling unconscious he was rushed to hospital and on Friday he had an operation on the injury.

In his Facebook group, called “please help me identify the person that assaulted me”, people who witnessed the attack are asked to help bring the attacker to justice.

His message reads: “The attack was completely unprovoked (I didn't even see it coming), and whoever did it continued to hit me even after I was unconscious on the floor . . . this is a dangerous individual that needs some help.”

Wandsworth Police are looking at CCTV footage from the club but have not made any arrests.

Mr Pring said: “I’ve been left with blurred vision, numbness in the left side of my face, headaches, nausea, dizziness. If you were there or know someone that was, I'd really appreciate you getting in touch with me via facebook, or if you prefer to remain anonymous, the Wandsworth Police station.”
