4. Online Learning Apps and Mobile Learning
Have the technologies once again changed the way we teach and learn? Is the Learning Management System dead - replaced by apps and mobile access? This week we'll examine the new and emerging technologies in online learning; how they are changing the way we teach and learn; and where they are leading us.
Live presentation
On Thursday, July 21, at 2:00 pm Eastern, 1:00 pm Central, noon Mountain; 11:00 am Pacific time in the U.S. - 7:00 pm London time, we will host a live Web conference on the weekly topic. We plan to provide hundreds of streams of the "live" Thursday sessions in both flash format and non-flash (mobile) format so that participants can view the panels. A Twitter back channel will also be encouraged for ongoing discussion of the panel. The hour-long conversation will be recorded and the URL for the recording will be made available the following day, July 22.

Glenda Morgan, Moderator, E-Learning Strategist, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
At Illinois Morgan helps develop vision, strategy and policy around all aspects of e-learning including physical and virtual learning environments, blended learning, and etexts, She maintains a strong research agenda and her her recent projects include research on how faculty and students use digital resources, formal and informal learning spaces and research methods used in studying applied learning environments. Morgan holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Minnesota. @morganmundum
David W. Middleton, Assistant Vice President for Finance and Technology, Seton Hall University
David Middleton is the Assistant Vice President for Finance and Technology at Seton Hall University, developing and managing strategic initiatives for both the Division of Finance & Technology, and the greater university community. Middleton joined Seton Hall University's Teaching, Learning and Technology Center in November 2001 as an Instructional Designer, and over the course of the next few years, held the positions of Sr. Instructional Designer and Associate Director of the TLT Center. Prior to coming to Seton Hall University, Middleton worked at Columbia University's Center for New Media Teaching & Learning (CCNMTL), and at St. Peter's Prep in Jersey City, NJ. Middleton has served on the Seton Hall University Teaching, Learning and Technology Roundtable Steering Committee, the University Strategic Planning Steering Committee among others, and has served as an Adjunct Faculty member in both the College of Education and Human Services and the College of Arts and Sciences at Seton Hall University. Middleton is currently pursuing the PhD. in Higher Education Administration at Seton Hall. @middleda
Patricia McGee, Associate Professor, University of Texas at San Antonio
Patricia McGee is Associate Professor of Instructional Technology at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Director of several technology for teaching grants, she has worked as research faculty through the Office of Naval Research, the US Air Force, and the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (formerly NLII) studying issues around distributed learning pedagogy and emerging technologies. She is a recipient of a US Distance Learning Association (USDLA) Gold Award for Distance Learning and Teaching. Her role as lead editor Course Management Systems for Learning: Beyond Accidental Pedagogy with Colleen Carmean and Ali Jafari has led to continue study of systems and pedagogy that support learning. @drpmcgee
Colleen Carmean, Research Consultant at Sage Road Solutions, Digital Knowledge Architect and Applied Computing Instructor, Arizona State University
Colleen Carmean serves as Digital Knowledge Architect for the College of Public Programs at Arizona State University. Her work lies in research and design of integrated knowledge systems, including environments for e-learning and social media. She teaches critical thinking and applied computing, and is currently doing research on affordance of emerging technologies. Dr. Carmean is a 2002 EDUCAUSE NLII Fellow, a 2004 Frye Fellow and a 2006-2008 Arizona Wakonse Teaching Fellow. @carmean
