96 years ago this week, women’s right to vote was formally adopted into the United States Constitution.

It was cause for celebration in Rochester, which was home to the leader of the suffrage movement, Susan B. Anthony. The annual 19th Amendment celebration takes place in the Susan B. Anthony House, and surrounding neighborhood.

The 19th Amendment is commonly known as the “Susan B. Anthony Amendment.”

Volunteers from the League of Women Voters were on hand Sunday to register new voters or update current registered voter information. The event also included a walking tour of one of Rochester’s most historic neighborhoods.
