RCA Secret: The postcard-sized art exhibition that keeps the artists' identity a mystery

Tracy Emin and Peter Blake have contributed works - but you won't know which ones yet

The Royal College of Art is holding an art sale with a twist: all the artworks are anonymous and no bigger than the size of a postcard.

RCA Secret, which was established over 20 years ago, sells each postcard for £55, with the artist’s identity not revealed until after the purchase.

The exhibition will feature over 2,000 works, whose creators will range from celebrated big-name artists to promising students of the college.

Artists who have contributed works this year include Peter Blake, Tracy Emin, Zandra Rhodes and Paul Smith. Previous years have seen contributions from Jeremy Deller, Grayson Perry, Lubaina Himid, Anish Kapoor and Maggi Hambling.

The exhibition can be seen at the college’s Battersea campus, with all profits from the sale of the postcards going to the RCA Student Award Fund which helps the college to provide scholarships.

Although the size makes for a small canvas, each postcard is a unique work, with approaches varying widely, from photography, collage and embroidery to drawing, painting and photography.
