A nice brown trout from the Smokies
Wildflowers are blooming, turkeys are gobbling, the trout are rising, and we're on the water almost every day. Spring is here!

We've had a wet spring here in East Tennessee and the Smokies and that has certainly had an effect on the fishing. Normally we would have spent a good deal of time on the Clinch and Holston Rivers by now, but they've been so high we haven't been on them in quite a while. Flows have started to moderate and we're looking forward to getting back on the big rivers.

We've seen a few days in the middle of March when the streams were blown out, but by and large it's been a great month of fishing in the Smokies. The Quill Gordon hatch has been excellent and we've had a few anglers hook some exceptional fish on dry flies.

As always you can keep up with all the action on our fishing report. We'll keep you posted about everything going on with the rivers and streams around East Tennessee and the Smoky Mountain region

Announcing Our New & Improved
Online Store

We've spent a while working on our online store. After we updated our website we started on the store and have improved it. Not only can you purchase our books & DVD's, but you can now purchase the fly patterns we use on the river.

Many of these flies have been part of our Fly of the Month program and are hard to impossible to find anywhere. After fielding numerous requests for our flies, they are now available on our website.

The selection is somewhat limited right now, but we will continue to expand it in the weeks ahead.

Video Fly Fishing Report From the Smoky Mountains and Big Tailwater Rivers

It has really been a great spring for dry fly fishing in the Smokies. Tailwater opportunities in East Tennessee have been very limited and best for those with access to a drift boat, but rising trout in the national park have kept us very happy. Here's a video report to catch you up on the action from the Smokies and big rivers.

Henry's Fork with trout & moose

We've scheduled our annual trip to Yellowstone country and this year we're heading to the TroutHunter Lodge on the Henry's Fork. The lodge is right on the water and all rooms have views of the river.

An added bonus is that both Yellowstone National Park and Montana's Madison River are less than an hour away. You'll have the opportunity to fish them all.

6 nights lodging and 5 days guided fishing
$1533 each angler

Volunteer Opportunities with Smoky Mountain Fisheries Biologists

Fisheries biologists at work

Many of our customers are amazed at how much we know about the trout in the Smokies. We spend quite a bit of time fishing on the streams, but we're also quick to point out that the time we spend helping fisheries biologists on the streams has added a tremendous amount to our knowledge.

Every year there are opportunities for anyone to help fisheries biologists with Great Smoky Mountains National Park for as much as a few days or as little as a few hours. We always enjoy our time on the water helping out when they shock a stream to count the trout population. It's always impressive to see just how many fish are in a stream.

Join Us For Our Legendary
Hazel Creek Fish Camp

October 13 - 16, 2011

Hazel Creek & Flame Azalea

We've already planned our 2011 classic fish camps on Hazel Creek, one of the most remote trout streams in the eastern United States. You bring a sleeping bag, your fishing gear, and personal items. We take care of all the rest.

You'll have a large tent with a padded cot and we'll take care of all the meals, drinks, and the shuttle across Fontana Lake. Meals include steaks grilled over a wood fire, barbeque ribs, and other hardy meals.

Breakfasts will prepare you for a long day on the stream and include eggs, sausage, and pancakes.

Come join us a for a great time in one of our favorite places!

Our spring camp filled up early this year so don't wait long to make your reservation.
