Daytime Skin Heros

Let’s just say I’ve had a long history with trying to achieve the perfect tan. Born in Florida I worshiped all things bronze and even found nail polishes, bathing suits, and even paler friends to contrast and enhance the glow. I moved to NYC at 19 and nothing changed, I just bathed in self-tanner November to May and then hit the Hamptons to cook myself up nice and brown for the warmer months. I’ve laid out on tar rooftops in the city and sat with my sister back in Florida covered in baby oil mounted on tin foil. I can’t use my parents excuse of “we didn’t know back then”, oh I knew I had a problem and I knew it was dangerously bad. So a few years ago… Mr. Sunshine and I officially broke it off.

I’m not saying stay out of the sun because I know its allure. But DO wear protection albeit hats, a blanket of sunscreen, rash guard…anything. Otherwise you could end up like me with anxiety filled derm appointments and expensive laser treatments. Check out these SPF rockstars I was sent to review and LOVED!

Roc Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30    A moisturizer, retinol and SPF 30 all in one pump. Protection while preventing premature aging wrapped up into a lightweight cream that seems to melt into the skin. Roc DOESN’T leave that paste-like film on skin and absorbs super fast. You can pretty much put it on and immediately after apply your day’s makeup. Broad spectrum SPF 30 and anti-aging benefits make Roc a winner! *lightly fragranced.

Cetaphil Redness Relieving Daily Facial Moisturizer with Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Think of this tube as a pale girls go-to for daily protection. Especially if you have sensitive skin. It only comes in one shade that blends from fair to a light-medium tone. The formula absorbs quick and casts a sheer but concealing coverage that is almost matte. If you have redness or just want a great tinted moisturizer with broad spectrum protection this one is for you. Just hopefully you fall into the shade range.

Miriam Quevedo Softening Veil SPF 30 Part of the Black Baccara Collection.- The veil is designed to match skincare with lifestyle with a tailor-made, custom treatment to defend against aging due to environment, stress, all that you’re exposed to. We’ve seen a lot of petal-infused skincare but Miriam’s extensive research on the black baccara rose led her to infuse the powerful antioxidant into some incredibly luxe products including the Softening Veil. She has a long history in Barcelona and lots of devoted fans all over the world. If you’re looking for a decadent option as your daily shield, look no further. Added benefits include a blurring effect to pores and fine lines and might I say…this is one of the most incredible primers I have ever seen…oh and the scent is intoxicating.

ISDIN ACTINIC CARE Eryfotona Actinica Ultralight Emulsion Broad Spectrum 50+SPF I know…the name is a bit challenging to pronounce. I actually took the brand on Suncoast View, and I was terrified to pronounce it wrong. Beyond the phonetic challenge it’s honestly the most insane SPF. I’ve covered myself from head to toe with ISDIN and rode my bike for two sweat-filled hours on a sun-drenched trail without even a trace of a farmer’s tan. Its got a whole lot of DNA Repairsomes (anti-aging stuff) and loaded with anti-oxidants. Its water-resistant and I’ve even used it as a base to mix my foundation with their Skin Drops. Another all-star brand from Barcelona that is now available in the US.

Blistex Lip Vibrance Ive worked with Blistex for many years and I honestly have never found a better lip care brand. Whether you need the medicated because your lips were cooked in the sun or you just want to protect your lips from getting cooked in the sun…you have so many options within the brand and that really work. One of my all time favorites is Lip Vibrance. I keep one in nearly every bag I own because its casts the perfect berry shade to lips that hydrates and shields. Don’t forget about your lips people. Otherwise you’ll have to buy the Medicated Lip Ointment which isn’t bad at all- it makes a great lipstick primer.
