Changeling: The Danger of Another Jesus

Have you ever watched the movie Changeling starring Angelina Jolie? I did, once. The premise is Jolie’s son goes missing and when he is supposedly returned, she discovers that it is not in fact her son, but another boy who merely resembles him. She goes through a lot of trouble and gets into danger trying to make the authorities believe that the boy was not her son. I was a bit disappointed when I saw the movie because I thought it was about the traditional albeit fantastical idea of a changeling:

A child believed to have been secretly substituted by fairies for the parents' real child in infancy. (OxfordDictionaries.com)

This is a wonderful tale to spin when discussing fairytales and if you’d like to read a pleasant little book about this, I highly recommend The Moorchild by Eloise McGraw. However, this is not the type of changeling I’d like to talk to you about today. I’d like to discuss this concept in relation to Jesus Christ.

Like the parents in folk and fairy tales tricked by fairies into believing a fairy is their child, so there are many people on this earth today who have been tricked by Satan and his imps into believing they have the real Jesus when in actuality, they have a false Jesus, another Jesus.

Jesus Himself warned of false Christs saying,

For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. (Matthew 24:24)

Later, John the Beloved and Revelator issued another warning saying,

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. (I John 4:1-6)

Another Christ, a false Christ, an antiChrist, they’re all the same. And yet even with these warnings, they pepper the face of the religious scene.

The Mormon “Jesus”

Mormons believe in another Jesus. Their Jesus is not the only begotten of the Father which Scripture clearly says He is (John 1:14, 1:18, 3:16, 3:18; I John 4:9). Their Jesus was not conceived miraculously through the Holy Spirit, but by a false Elohim who came down and had very literal sex with the Virgin Mary and was conceived no differently than the Greek god Zeus was said to conceive his many demigod bastards. But again, this is against Scripture which clearly states the conception of Christ was miraculous (Isa. 7:14, Matt. 1:20, Luke 1:31). This false Jesus is also in many ways compared to Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism. His supposed martyr is compared to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ; the deceitful man’s blood put on the level of Christ’s pure, undefiled blood. This is the definition of blasphemy.

The New Age a.k.a. Humanist a.k.a. Oprah “Jesus”

The Jesus of the New Age is also another false Christ. Similar to that of Humanism, Oprah describes this pretender best saying Jesus came to teach us how to be the best humans we can be! She overemphasizes His humanity and places the deity in that instead of realizing that His divinity is separate from His humanity. He was fully God AND fully man. While our humanity is absolutely a gift from God, it is also absolutely fallen. There is none good, but God (Matt. 19:17, Mark 10:18, Luke 18:19). Man is inherently sinful and iniquitous (Psalm 51:5). This Humanist Jesus exalts humanity to the point of divinity. Jesus was absolutely divine, yet no other human--not even His mother Mary--can make that claim. Exalting the creation over the Creator is always a mistake.

Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. (Romans 1:22-25)

New Age is a demonstrative, supernatural version of Humanism. The power of New Age is the soul--the mind, will, and emotions--and this power is harnessed to bring about, not God’s will as should always be done (Matt. 6:9-10), but the man’s will alone which is never trustworthy because the heart from which we reason and act is deceitful and wicked above all things (Jer. 17:9). This is why witchcraft (the power of the New Age) is considered one of the works of the flesh, because you are literally working the desires of your flesh instead of the will of God.

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:19-21)

More False Jesuses

Even within the bounds of Christianity (religiously speaking), there are those who have accepted another Jesus through incomplete or false teaching.

I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ. (Galatians 1:6-10)
But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it! (II Corinthians 11:3-4)
For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works. (II Corinthians 11:13-15)

Sadly, the world does not have a copyright on false gospels and doctrines. Everything the world teaches is false in the sense that it does not come from God or the cut out the parts they don’t like. A little lie mixed with a host of truth is still a lie; a little leaven leavens the whole lump (I Cor. 5:6, Gal. 5:9). Yet either by misunderstanding, misteaching, or outright intent to deceive, there are those who grace literal and proverbial pulpits in godly churches and preach false truths. Just listen to this CRAY CRAY tale of “another Jesus” being cast out of a woman! (See 12:54-14:20.)​

In her book Possessing the Gates of the Enemy, Cindy Jacobs recounts the story of a sincere yet sincerely deceived young intercessor--not an unbeliever, but a Christian AND a praying woman!--who was deceived by an incubus spirit coming to her in the guise of “Jesus.” This is actually a common occurrence known as the bridal (chamber) mysticism. (Look out for a full discourse on this topic in my forthcoming book, The Days of Noah and Lot!) Beloved, the Son of God (or the Father or the Spirit or any of the holy angels) will NOT come down and have sexual relations, sexual experiences, with human beings! That is the territory of Satan (see Gen. 6:1-4), NOT God Almighty.

Similarly, there are those like in Dan Brown’s thriller The DaVinci Code who believe the Son of God married Mary Magdalene and had children with her who eventually wound up in Modern-day France. Lies! The Son of God married no one! had sexual relations with no one! had biological children with no one! Scripture would not have left out those major details!

Test the spirits people, to see if they be of God!

Many of these people, in the Church and out, have fallen prey to these “changelings” because they do not know the Word and Person of God well enough to be able to discern between the true and the false. Just as those who handle money must study authentic money in order to identify the counterfeit, so we too must study the true Christ in order to be able to identify the false.

Here are some pointers to tell the true from the false:

If you don’t know if you’re dealing with the real Jesus or a changeling, then go back to the red letters of the New Testament and familiarize yourself with the words, ways, and life of Jesus. The Word of God will never steer you wrong!
