Baseball Advances to First Round of 2016 AMCC Play-offs

HAMBURG, N.Y. – With one non-conference contest still to be played (May 3 against Utica College), the Hilbert College baseball team is revved-up for their very first AMCC post-season tournament.

Hilbert College (11-19), after their sweep over Penn State Altoona April 30, moved to 6-10 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference league standings.  The Hawks sit in a two-way tie with Pitt.-Bradford whom the Hawks split with earlier this season in a 'home game' at Houghton College.  Based on head-to-head results, Hilbert claimed the 5th seed in the six-team tournament which begins May 7.

La Roche College (15-1 and 30-8 overall, ranked #20 in the d3Baseball poll and #1 in the Mideast Region, 4/28/16), claimed the #1 seed and will host the AMCC Championship.

Pitt.-Greensburg (13-3, 21-16 overall) earned the #2 seed and also a bye in the first round games.  #3 Penn St.-Behrend plays host to #6 Pitt.-Bradford and #4 Mt. Aloysius College will host our #5 Hawks in the first round on May 7th at 1pm.

The first round games will be a best-of-three game series with a 7/9 doubleheader played on May 7.  If needed, a deciding 9-inning game will be played Sunday at 11am.

The winners of the two first round series will advance to the four-team, double elimination tournament hosted by La Roche.  Each game shall be a nine-inning contest.
