The Council on American-Islamic relations (CAIR) is calling for police in Washington D.C. to preserve video of what was described as an attack against a Muslim woman outside a local Starbucks by a Donald Trump supporter.

WJLA-TV reported that the victim told the activist group that she was approached last week by a woman calling her a "fu*king Muslim" and "fu*king Muslim trash."

The attacker also allegedly said that she was voting for the Republican presidential candidate in the hopes that he would send "all of you terrorist Muslims out of this country." Trump has called for a ban on Muslim immigration into the US during his campaign.

CAIR said in a statement that the Muslim woman called 911, but was told by an officer responding to the incident that he could not address the incident because of "freedom of speech."

At that point, the Trump supporter allegedly walked away, only to return and pour an "unknown liquid" over the victim's head after approaching her from behind.

WJLA reported that the incident is being investigated as a hate crime.
