1. Bar Pastoral/Pastoral. We're biased, what can we say? This is our original baby and it is cozy, filled to the brim with great wine, charcuterie, bistro street life and of course cheese.
2. Bow Truss Coffee Roasters. A completely chill vibe with amazing roasts that feel unique and they always remember who you are.
3. Crisp. Every bike messenger in town knows that this place is the bomb with its Korean Fried Chicken taking center stage. Yum.
4. Monsignor Murphy's. Owned by a former professional boxer who is always around—Wednesday night dueling pianos with famous musicians and a gregarious crowd and lots of cold beer.
5. Lakeview Kitchen. Exciting new food incubator just getting revved up in the 'hood, featuring amazingly talented artisan local food entrepreneurs. Sweet and savory gems.
6. Brazilan Bowl. Fast-casual Brazilian food with the full authentic vibe from music to denizens that actually speak Portuguese. Beats the chain bowls by a mile, especially the Turkey Bowl.
7. El Mariachi. The neighborhood Mexican restaurant with friendliest owners and service, great food and value and usually a shot of tequila as their amuse bouche for dessert.
8. Essencia. Amazing cafe generally open for just breakfast and lunch featuring freshest ingredients, a simple but light vibe and the chicken soup is not to be missed.
9. Wang's. This bar, owned by the folks who own Ping Pong and Wakamono, is like walking into an authentic smokey dark bar and lounge in Shanghai, with off the hook cocktails.
10. The Closet. People have been ending their nights at this 4am bar for as long as we have lived there. Awesome video play list, great mix of gay, lesbian and straight and friendly bartenders. If your early bar is hitting last call, run, don't walk.

1. Red Hot Ranch, which is easily my favorite burger in town.
2. Northdown, because it has an excellent beer list and the best grilled cheese.
3. Belmont Harbor, because I love to watch the old fishermen on a Saturday morning.
4. Coffee & Tea Exchange for fresh drinks and neat brewing gadgets.
5. Murphy’s Red Hots for the best hot dogs in the neighborhood
6. Chicago Music Exchange for their gorgeous acoustic room (and for fixing my guitar!).
7. Wrigley Field, because every year is our year!
8. Bunny, the Micro Bakery for a breakfast (almost) too beautiful to eat.
9. The Roost Carolina Kitchen for when I’m feeling homesick and need a chicken biscuit.
10. Beermiscuous, my favorite place to drink beer while feigning productivity.
