Read Across America Week at Kistler



From March 4, 2024, through March 8, 2024, we will celebrate “Read Across America Week” in honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday.  During this week students will participate in classroom activities and school-wide programs focused on celebrating reading.  One activity will be dressing up daily according to the themes below while following the district dress code policy. Ms. Yanora and the school community share in the celebration of Black History Month.

Ms. Yanora’s Fourth Grade class along with the Dr. Kistler school community shared in the presentations
from three Wilkes-Barre Area (Meyers High School) graduates in celebration of Black History Month. Dr.
Brittany Yanora-Hong, Qadry (The Missile) Ismail, and Raghib (Rocket) Ismail. All three readers read
from African American authors and poets. They shared their life experiences and forwarded the
message of the importance of equality, inclusion, and acceptance. During the month of February, Ms.
Yanora’s class read poems, short stories and researched important investors, scientists, authors and
athletes.
