It seems like 2016 will be an awesome year for anime. Fresh off the news that the second season of "Attack on Titan" would probably get released later this year, another awesome anime called "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress" seems to be well on its way to being one of the best series released in recent years.

Indeed, just with the first two episodes, the anime has already managed to garner a significant number of fans all over the world. With animation sequences that are already at movie level and action sequences that are to die for, "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress" is looking to be a runaway success.

Of course, anime such as this deserve to be watched. For those with reservations, however, here are a few points about why this show must not be missed.

It's Being Made With Great Care And Quality

One thing that "Kabaneri" did not scrimp on is the quality of its animation. Looking at the first episodes alone almost makes viewers feel like they are watching an anime movie, not a series. In the words of John Hammond from "Jurassic Park," it is quite obvious that the creators of the anime spared no expense.

The Minds Behind It Are Awesome

Anime is usually made or broken by the people working behind a specific title. In the case of "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress," the people behind the series are flat-out awesome. Notable "Attack on Titan" director Tetsuro Araki heads the project. The story is written by "Code Geass" writer Ichiro Okouchi, as well. Wit Studio, the firm creating the show, is also known for pulling no punches on the anime it creates.

The Characters Are Great

Though it's almost too early to judge the series for its cast of characters, those that have already managed to get some screentime seem multi-layered and set for some major character development.

It's Steampunk Anime At Its Best

Steampunk anime has not had a pretty good entry in years. With "Kabeneri of the Iron Fortress" adopting a steampunk theme, fans of the genre could rejoice, as this anime definitely does the tenets, motifs and tropes of the genre in a way that would make the grandfathers of steampunk proud.

It Has Zombies!

Face it, zombies are our guilty pleasure. After all, there is just something about those undead little things that make them simply unforgettable for people. What makes the zombies great in "Kabaneri" is that they are pretty darn terrifying, being ravenous, brutal and merciless at the same time.

There is no doubt that "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress" would probably be the anime to beat this season. At its current pace, that very well seems to be the case.

Amazon subscribers could get access to the anime through a Prime subscription.
