What are the Best Mustangs of all Time?

The iconic Mustang has been an American icon since its debut in 1964. Known for its sleek exterior, aggressive styling, and incredible acceleration, it's no wonder the Ford Mustang has been a favorite for all of these years. Fast forward to 2018, not much has changed, although the Ford Mustang is still considered by car enthusiasts as one of, if not the best, sports car around.

At Franklin's Spring Creek Ford, we love reminiscing about classic cars and looking forward to the new vehicles that Ford has to offer. Let's take a look at the top Mustangs produced over the past 50 years!

1965 Ford Shelby GT350

Considered by many to be not only the top Mustang of all time, but also one of the top sports cars of all time, the classic and timeless 1965 Ford Shelby GT350 trumps all.

The 1965 Shelby GT350 focused on power, and is a track version of the Mustang that was released just one year prior. A 289 cubic inch V8 provided all the power one could crave, pushing out over 300 horsepower. To up speeds and handling even more, the backseat was removed. One drawback of this exact Mustang was that it was only available in white, but many of these have been painted over the years to offset that -- although it may be hard to get your hands on one!

2018 Ford Shelby GT350

Newer to the market, the Ford GT350 has made a comeback and was better than ever in 2018. Pushing out over 500 horsepower through its 5.2 liter V8 engine pushes the limits to the max, giving you all the power you could ever dream of.

A car with this much power needs a high performance suspension system to ensure the car's handling is top of mind, and Ford made that a high priority. This car bridges the old with the new and pays tribute to one of the most respectable cars of all time, paying tribute to the respected Mustang name.

1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302/351/429

The Ford Mustang Boss is just what it's named -- a true boss in the sport car scene.

This car was designed to be a race car for the street, as many claim it holds true to that design. An added rear spoiler and hood scoop give the car an aggressive sporty look, and upgraded suspension and brakes to give you the control necessary to drive this car how it begs to be driven. The 1969 version pumped out 290 horsepower, and in 2012, Ford brought back the Boss name with a whopping 429 cubic inch V8 with nearly 400 horsepower.

Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R

One of the most recognizable body styles of the Ford mustang was produced from 1993 to 2004. With an aggressive, race car inspired look, and added performance and body kits, the Ford Mustang SVT Cobra was every drivers dream. If the power of a V8 Mustang was not enough, the 2000 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra brought in a very solid 385 horsepower through its 5.4 liter V8.
