Hull Register Office services change due to coronavirus

Hull’s Register Office has announced changes to their services due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The office, at the Wilson Centre in Alfred Gelder Street, manages the city’s births, deaths, marriages and civil ceremonies.

Here are the changes:

Births

From today, new parents will be unable to make new appointments to register a birth. It is not confirmed when this service will resume. All babies are provided with an NHS number at birth meaning they are able to access healthcare. The Government has released information on claiming Child Benefit prior to registration.

Deaths

Death registration can now be conducted over the phone. Before calling to make an appointment, the Medical Cause of Death Certificate should be emailed to the Register Office, which can be done by the doctor or staff at Hull Royal Infirmary. Callers are asked to ensure this is confirmed before contacting the office.

Marriages and civil partnerships

Services are suspended and no new appointments are being offered. Anyone wanting to postpone their ceremony can email the Register Office to do so. The service is not yet able to confirm when services will again go ahead.

Find out more about the changes to these services here, email [email protected] or call 01482 300300. Customers are advised not to attend the office in person.
