Looking for something to help get you in the holiday mood? How about something festive to get the family out of the house? Well you are in luck. Between now and Christmas, there are a variety of events around the city to help! I have tried to come up with as many of the events, shows and tours as possible to help you plan your holiday season:

 

 

27th Annual Holiday in the Park

Legion Park on JR Miller Boulevard and Byers Ave. will be decorated for the Holidays now through January 2nd. Giant elves, toys, trees, figures, and Santa in his sleigh will adorn the parks half-mile trail.

Christmas at Panther Creek

            Panther Creek Park on Wayne Bridge Road will be the home of Christmas at Panther Creek driving light tour. Over 500,000 light are strung throughout the park along with 125 donated displays. The cost is $3.00 per carload. Wagon rides are also available. The tour is open from 6-9pm now through January 2nd. 36th Annual Holiday Forest- Stars of the East

            This annual holiday celebration returns to the Owensboro Museum of Fine Arts for its 36th year. The Museum will feature trees and decorations designed by regional artists, schools, and civic groups. Also showing at the Museum is the exhibit Stars of the East. Holiday Stroll

Downtown Owensboro takes a step back in time with the Holiday Stroll. Visit Downtown to help get into the Holiday mood. You can see strolling carolers, see the store fronts decorated, experience the lighting of the Christmas Tree at Riverfront Crossing, and much more. The Stroll will be held Saturday, December 1st from 5-8pm.

The Nutcracker

            The Owensboro Dance Theatre will present “The Nutcracker” at the RiverPark Center on Saturday, December 1st at 7pm. The seasonal favorite will feature over 100 community members, the theatre company, and guests from the Ky Ballet Theatre. For more information you can visit www.owensborodancetheatre.org.

Story Times

            The Daviess County Library will hold several Story Times throughout the month. These Story Times allow children to have fun and sharpen early literacy skills through stories and singing. The dates are December 3rd, 6th, 10th and 13th from 10am-12pm. For more information you can visit www.dcplibrary.org.

It’s a Wonderful Life

            Based on the classic holiday film by Frank Capra, Theatre Workshop of Owensboro brings the story of George Bailey to life. The show runs December 7-9th and December 14-16th. For more information you can visit www.theatreworkshop.org.

The Magic of Christmas

The Owensboro Symphony Orchestra presents “The Magic of Christmas” Sunday, December 9th, at 3pm. The show will feature the OSO, the Owensboro Symphony Chorus, Kentucky Youth Chorale, Owensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra, and soloist Laurie Gayle Stephenson preforming music to help get you in the holiday mood.
