Miller-Meeks Supported Congressional Gold Medal Bill Signed into Law

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, December 16th, 2021, Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-02) made the following statement after President Biden signed into law bipartisan legislation that would award the Congressional Gold Medal to the thirteen U.S. military servicemembers who were killed in Afghanistan on August 26th, 2021:

We will never truly be able to thank the soldiers who lost their lives in August. This Congressional Gold Medal will ensure that all of their legacies, including Iowa’s Daegan Page, live on forever. We must never forget their sacrifice.

Background:

The legislation will posthumously award the Congressional Gold Medal to Staff Sgt. Darin Taylor Hoover, Sgt. Johanny Rosario Pichardo, Sgt. Nicole Gee, Cpl. Hunter Lopez, Cpl. Daegan Page, Cpl. Humberto Sanchez, Cpl. David Lee Espinoza, Lance Cpl. Jared Schmitz, Lance Cpl. Rylee McCollum, Lance Cpl. Dylan Merola, Lance Cpl. Kareem Nikoui, Corpsman Maxton Soviak, and Staff Sgt. Ryan Knauss.
