The Poetry Forum: International Women Poets

April brings both Poetry Month and the first anniversary of the publication of our Ecco Anthology of International Poetry. In his introduction to the anthology, editor Ilya Kaminsky lamented the shortage of translations of international women poets and pledged to address the issue in WWB. In addition, Poetry International recently asked a group of American poets to name their favorite international women poets in translation. We're pleased to see that over thirty of the eighty names on the PI list appear in WWB or in one of our anthologies. Now we're opening the conversation by inviting you to submit your recommendations for women poets who should be more known and widely read in the United States. And stay tuned for discussions on non-Western poetry, poets translating poets, and other related topics.
