Wake lands TyraTech HQ, 105 new jobs

By Amanda Jones Hoyle

Pesticide research company TyraTech said Monday that it is moving its headquarters from central Florida to a building in Morrisville and bringing 105 jobs to Wake County, according to an announcement from Gov. Beverly Perdue’s office on Monday.

TyraTech of Melbourne, Fla., which was founded in 2004 and began trading its stock on the London Stock Exchange in 2007, develops natural ingredients for pesticides.

TyraTech executive chairman Alan Reade says a key reason the company decided to move to the Triangle was to be able to partner with its educational institutions, including N.C. State University’s entomology and veterinary science programs.

TyraTech also has partnerships with a number of Triangle biotech companies, including Syngenta (NYSE: SYT) and Arysta LifeScience.

The North Carolina Department of Commerce, along with local economic development and university leaders, participated in the recruitment of the company to the state, but no announcements have been made regarding any state or local economic incentive grants.

TyraTech officials expect to post details by late March about job positions that will be available in Morrisville at www.tyratech.com.
