It’s like we’re moving out
While we’ve gutted and renovated almost our entire 1800 square foot house, there’s one large project that’s been looming over our heads. Or rather, under our feet.
And we’re finally about to cross it off our list. We’re refinishing the wood floors of our entire first floor. Which means we have to remove every scrap of furniture and chachki that’s sitting in the space.
First, we packed up our china cabinet in the dining room.
Adeline helped by inspecting our storage bins.

.
And while we got the cabinet cleaned out…
.
…that’s where our progress stopped. We still have to empty out our living and dining rooms…
.
…and seal up all the cabinets in the kitchen.
So we called in reinforcements in the form of family members to help us finish up tomorrow. The floor guy starts on Saturday and I can’t wait to show you the before and after photos! But, since we can’t walk on the floors while he’s working on them, we’ll be moving out of our house for a few days (staying at my parent’s farm while they’re in New Orleans), and I’ll do my best to give you updates from there.
Wish us, and our 98-year-old maple floors, good luck!
- At the right angle and with the right lighting, my baby almost looks chubby

Good luck! At least you have a really cute bin inspector:-)
I can’t wait to see the transformation. Make sure the heat is turned up so the poly dries! I, ummm, know that little tidbit from experience. What color stain are you going with or is it a surprise?
Congrats on finally making your move. I’m wondering what kind of creative decorating and design ideas you have up your sleeve.
Thinking about sneaking over to see how they look so far. . …. he he
I heart real wood floors. Can’t wait to see the results!!!
We finally bought new flooring last weekend and my Dad is visiting us from Canada right now(first time he has seen his Grandson) to help us install them. Although I would have loved to have hardwood…we went with a really nice laminate I’ll send you pics soon and we can compare floors
