Police Blotter: Feb. 18 – Feb. 24

The weekly crime activity report from the Greenbelt Police.

 

Feb. 18: A burglary occurred on the 7900 block of Mandan Road at 1:33 p.m. Electronics and a handgun were among the items taken. 

An apartment window was broken on the 5800 block of Cherrywood Terrace at 2:38 p.m.

Feb. 19: Eric Donte Jarmal Ashond, 19, of College Park, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia on the 7800 block of Hanover Parkway at 11:54 p.m. The suspect was released on citation pending trial. 

Feb. 20: Dwight Lawrence Sumpter, 25, of Greenbelt, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while impaired by alcohol, among other charges after a traffic stop at the intersection of Greenbelt Road and Kenilworth Avenue at 2:54 a.m. The suspect was released on citations pending trial.

A strong armed robbery occurred on the 7800 block of Mandan Road at 8:06 p.m. The suspect approached the victim and forcefully took the food that the victim was delivering. The suspect is described as a black male, 18-20 years old, 5’11”-6’1”, 160-180 pounds, wearing all dark clothing.

Daniel Debois Jones, 32, of District Heights, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 9 Court Southway at 11:44 p.m. The suspect was released on citation pending trial. 

A car window was broken on the 6000 block of Springhill Drive.

A registration card was taken from a vehicle on the 9100 block of Edmonston Road.

Car windows were broken on the intersection of Springhill Court and Edmonston Terrace.

Feb. 21: Jewelry and electronic were taken from a residence on the 100 block of Westway at 10:48 a.m.

Feb. 22: A vacant unit was broken into on the 100 block of Westway at 12:07 p.m.

A car stereo was taken from a vehicle on the 100 block of Westway.

A gray 2010 Toyota Camry with New Jersey tags was taken on the 9100 block of Springhill Court.

A car window was broken on the 100 block of Westway.

A laptop was taken from a vehicle on the 8400 block of Canning Terrace.

An iPod and camera were taken from a vehicle on the 200 block Lakeside Drive.

An attempted vehicle theft occurred on the 200 block of Lakeside Drive.

A car stereo was taken from a vehicle on the 9100 block of Springhill Lane.

A laptop was taken from a vehicle on the 7200 block of Mandan Road.

Feb. 23: Adrienne Celeste Morris, 37, of Greenbelt, was arrested and charged with driving while impaired by drugs and alcohol, among other charges after a traffic stop on the intersection of Greenbelt Road and Hanover Parkway at 1:05 a.m. The suspect was released on citations pending trial. 

Andrew Tabron, 18, of Greenbelt, was arrested and charged with malicious destruction of property, after vandalizing a picnic table on the 8400 block of Canning Terrace at 2:36 p.m. The suspect was released on citation pending trial. Also, a resident juvenile was petitioned for malicious destruction of property and possession of drug paraphernalia. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending action by the Department of Juvenile Services. 

Feb. 24: An armed robbery occurred on the unit block of Crescent Road at 4:05 p.m. Three suspects forced their way into the victim’s apartment, displayed weapons and took several items. The suspects are described as black males, one of which was 18 years old.

An apartment window was broken on the 6200 block of Breezewood Drive at 4:16 p.m.

Clarence Michael Gillis, 21, and Phillip Sean Gillis, 21, both of Greenbelt, were arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia on the 6400 block of Ivy Lane at 10:21 p.m. Both suspects were released on citation pending trial. 

A Maryland tag, reported stolen on the 7400 block of Greenbelt Road, was recovered by Falls Church, Virginia, Police Department. One arrest was made.
