Bring Safe Water to Flint

The people of Flint, Michigan have been poisoned by the presence of lead and other toxins in their water supply for the last 18 months. They desperately need access to clean water to try to prevent more damage, and I'm asking you to help.
"Lead poisoning occurs when lead builds up in the body, often over a period of months or years. Even small amounts of lead can cause serious health problems. Children under the age of 6 are especially vulnerable to lead poisoning, which can severely affect mental and physical development." - Mayo Clinic
Read that paragraph again, and imagine what would happen to a city that spent 18 months drinking lead-contaminated water.
Imagine the damage done to thousands of children - damage that started with the first glass and continued for a large percentage of their life.
It's a idea out of a terrorist's dreams or a Hollywood movie. Tragically, it is also what has happened to the 100,000 residents of Flint, Michigan.
From April 2014 until October 2015 - a period of 18 months - the city of Flint was provided with water that was contaminated by lead and other toxins.
How bad was the water? The General Motors plant in Flint stopped using it for production in October 2014, because it was corroding metal parts. Yet the citizens of Flint, including thousands of children, were still using it for another year.
Even now, three months after Flint was finally switched back to a safe water supply, the crisis is only beginning. Every foot of piping used to deliver water has been contaminated, including the plumbing in every home.
This is a disaster that will take billions of dollars and many years to fix, but the people of Flint can not wait. They need safe water now, and so do their children.
That's a staggering amount of water. In one day, the citizens of Flint need over 800,000 eight-ounce bottles of clean water. Filters can help reduce that number, but don't last long because of the heavy contamination.
So I'm asking people to come together and make a donation. Every cent this fund collects will be used to get bottled water, filtration kits and replacement filters to the people of Flint.
Damage has already been done, but every day makes it worse. Imagine if this was your family - your children.
If you still aren't sure, I ask you to look at the photograph at the top of this page. That's not the run-off waste water from a toxic dump, nor is it the water supply from a long-abandoned building.
That's an ordinary sink at a busy hospital in Flint, distributing the water that was used to treat patients and save lives.
