Consumer Reports recommends the Samsung Galaxy S7 over the Apple iPhone 8

Non-profit magazine Consumer Reports provides readers with unbiased recommendations. In its latest look at the smartphone industry, CR recommended that its readers purchase the 2016 Samsung Galaxy S7 over the brand spanking new Apple iPhone 8. Yes folks, that is not a typo. And not only did last year's Galaxy model top the iPhone 8, so did this year's Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+.

Consumer Reports gave the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Samsung Galaxy S8+ each a score of 81. The Apple iPhone 8 and the Galaxy S7 both tied with scores of 80. Despite the tie, the magazine recommended that smartphone buyers purchase the older Galaxy S7 over the brand spanking new iPhone 8 because of its longer battery life and better call quality. Following the Apple iPhone 8, Consumer Reports had the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the LG G6. The latter two devices also were given a score of 80.

Consumer response to the Apple iPhone 8 has not been typical for a brand new iPhone. Because some potential buyers are waiting to check out the Apple iPhone X first before making a decision, some iPhone 8 purchases might have been deferred for the moment, only to take place after the November 3rd launch of the tenth anniversary model. Last week, we told you that an in-store survey conducted by a securities house revealed that in the U.S., the iPhone 7 is outselling the iPhone 8.
