Nancy Whang of LCD Soundsystem and The Juan MacLean releases covers EP — listen

Singer and keyboardist Nancy Whang is best known for her run with the now-defunct LCD Soundsystem and as one half of the electronica project The Juan MacLean. Today, however, Whang goes solo with the release of a new EP through Gomma Records.

As its title suggests, The Nancy Whang Casablanca Reworks EP features six reworkings from Casablanca Records’ iconic 1970s catalog. Specifically, Whang has lent her velvety croon to covers of Dennis Parker’s “Like An Eagle”, Donna Summer’s “Working the Midnight Shift” (plus a separate disco version), KISS’ “I Was Made for Loving You”, Michel Vedette’s “Comme Un Algie”, and Parliament’s “Flashlight”. The tracks feature cameos from French house guru Etienne De Crecy, Audiojack, Bonar Bradberry, Drop Out Orchestra, and the Revenge.
