Jawdropper of the Week: A Brand-New Beauty with a Golf Course View

This Jawdropper of the Week is a stunning new construction situated on the 8th hole of the Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Saint Martin’s golf course in Chestnut Hill. Usually, the homes we feature in this department are already lived-in, with plenty of wonderful furniture, but when we came across this place, we were so impressed by the design that we figured we’d let you fill the space with your imagination.
The first floor of this striking modern classic, conceived, designed and custom built by Great Oak Holdings in collaboration with Studio Agoos Lovera principal Jim Rowe, has a largely open floor plan. There’s a fireplace right in the foyer when you walk in, then to the left is a spacious, fireplace-equipped dining/living room area that flows right into the kitchen, which has a huge island and striking overhead stainless steel light fixtures. To the right of the foyer is a master suite with fireplace and master bathroom.
The staircase is dramatic. It has cherry steps and stainless steel finishing. As the stairwell area is completely open, you can see all the way up the stairs, which lead to a second floor family room that also has a fireplace and looks out on the foyer. There are also three bedrooms on this level, one with a fireplace, and two balconies—one off the family room and one off one of the bedrooms.

As far as the exterior goes…it’s on a golf course. There’s not much more that needs to be said. The house sits on one acre, but it’s surrounded by 37 acres next to Fairmount Park that have been preserved by The Natural Lands Trust.
Honestly, though, this is the kind of place that you’ll have to see in the photos below (or visit its website; yes, this is one of those homes) in order to fully comprehend its beauty. Our words just won’t quite do it justice.
