Overlooks Fort Greene Park

The Brooklyn Hospital Center is looking to unload a 21-story building at 240 Willoughby Street to help pay for a new urgent care center and to renovate some floors at the main hospital campus, DNAinfo reports.

Known as the Maynard Building, the property currently houses some of the hospital's medical offices as well as apartments for its employees, according to the listing posted by Cushman & Wakefield.

The zoning allows for residential development as of right with 331,500 buildable square feet on offer. The property is located right across from Fort Greene Park and a developer would be able to create a private entrance to the Park for residents of a newly developed building at the site.

The hospital previously issued a request for proposals back in 2014, according to DNAinfo, but decided to withdraw at the time. The deadline for the current RFP is April 14.
