January is National Mentoring Month

National Mentoring Month was founded in 2002 by MENTOR National and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. The goal is to highlight the need for mentors and how each of us can work together to increase the number of mentors available to young people.

At SGA, we recognized the importance of mentoring early on. Not only are our intern architects and designers given a mentor to help them on their path to licensure or registration, but also, we’ve historically invested time mentoring through programs with AIA and Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance. Our staff has enjoyed helping introduce young students to architecture and design.

We make it a top priority to hand-select, train, and empower our employees. Some of the benefits we provide include payment of professional exam fees, membership dues, study materials, and paid time off to take exams. In early 2020, SGA purchased a firm license to the Amber Book, which allows architectural candidates to study at their own pace utilizing online material. So even though our original plans for 2020 were disrupted by the pandemic, our intern architects have still been able to stay on track studying for their exams.
